MECHANICAL SURGE SUPPRESSION & CONTROL
- Description: Where surge suppression equipment is required to be provided under the Contract, the initial sizing of such equipment will have been carried out by the ADSSC or his representative. The Contractor shall be responsible for a final assessment of the pressure transients, based on the actual pump selection and final pipework design. The successful Contractor shall undertake a further more detailed analysis of the system at the detailed design stage, using a proprietary computer based hydraulic transient analysis software package modelling the suppressed hydraulic performance of the system. The software package shall be one that is approved by ADSSC. The final design of the surge suppression equipment shall be determined using the modelling capabilities of the software package. A detailed surge analysis report shall be produced for each of the above simulations. The form of the analysis and the report shall be such that it can be reviewed by the ADSSC. The cost of analysis shall be deemed to have been included in the cost of the surge protection equipment. Surge analysis modelling shall be undertaken by suitably qualified and experienced specialists approved by the ADSSC. The specialist shall be recognized by a specialist hydraulic Institute.
